Characterization and Modification of Activated Carbon Generated from Annogeissus Leiocarpus

Activated carbon (AC) is a versatile adsorbent that used in the treatment of waste water, colour, odour removal and CO2 capture. Annogeissus leiocarpus one abundant agricultural precursor can be for production activated carbon. Characterization was done to investigate some proximate parameters. The modifications were made by soaking AC 40% H2SO4 NaHCO3 24hours ration 1:3 w/v. FT-IR SEM conducted surface functional group morphology respectively. result this study revealed produced possessed high yield, low Ash content, Burnt off, moisture content Average bulk density large pore volume. results from analysis identified appearance disappearance carbonyl hydroxyl groups which contributed creation more adsorptive site adsorption process. indicated development pores all over with Acid modified (AMAC/ H2SO4) having highest distribution followed Base Modified Carbon (BMAC/NaHCO3) finally ordinary (AC). suggest modification using significantly enhance properties improves enhances it potentials wastewater treatment.
